OBSESSION
The social pandemic.
ABOUT
OBSESSION documentary
“OBSESSION” is a nonfiction documentary series that focuses on the dark sides of social media platforms in this generation.
Generation Z representatives have never seen the world without the internet and thus have affinity for texting and messaging on mobile apps or online platforms, sometimes even over in-person conversations. These characteristics of these young individuals are not always beneficial means of communication.
Excessive use of social media platforms can lead to a multitude of health and mental issues. Lack of sleep from overusing these apps can lead to depression and anxiety and the same effects can come from individuals who use negative comments behind a screen, which is called cyberbullying.
Some teenagers may crave the addictive nature of the applications, like TikTok, but many do not realize the trickery and purposeful features to get users to keep scrolling. This series documents real Gen Zers who use these platforms and discusses the dangers hidden behind the screen.
